Over the years Iv'e had the pleasure and pain of working on various projects of all shapes and sizes from classic cars to stock cars to fishing boats, over the years images have been lost but not the memories, so rather than keep future memories locked in the vast vault in my head they are going on here, hope you enjoy

VW Beetle Boxter, Wing Extension, Wheel Arch Flare

More tin work done, rad cover to compliment the front bay.

The A panel as a wee bit rough, rather than spend time filling it was best to cut out and replace with new metal.

On with the wings, had a look at many different styles on the net and you tube and there are many differing opinions on how to go about  extending etc, this is my take on it, front needed 60mm to clear so the round bar you can see is there as a guide to build on and will be removed once the arch is made.

The metal profile is the intended shape of the arch.

First mock up of the wheel arch, at the moment its held in place with self tapping screws.

Although not fully welded at the moment, the arch is now able to be removed, the form refined and cleaned, round bar removed and the original radius of the wheel arch can be cut back for clearance.
Both side fronts are now at this stage.

The rear wings need to cover an extra 110mm of rubber, the rears determined what was done on the front as extending the rear wings to cover the tires would leave a flat spot hence the front flares. A two inch strip had been added to bring the wing out to leave the same amount of rubber hanging out side of the wing as on the front.

Next update will show the same profile flare on all four corners, adding a few more rounded contours to the beetle cant be a bad thing and all real steel.
